Story

When Lawson’s vast cattle station lacks an heir, rival factions across Australia see an opportunity to take over. The series was filmed across the Northern and South Territories of Australia in places so remote they are barely inhabited, let alone shown on screen.

Although here he is playing a very different character

Locations include the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Kakadu National Park, with special permission from the Traditional Owners, and Tipperary Station, a real-life working cattle station that is so large it has its own airfield and school. I was very excited when I discovered that this series co-starred the wonderful actor Robert Taylor, who I loved so much in the Longmire series.

Any comparison to Yellowstone is silly

(no spoilers). I know there are devoted Yellowstone fans out there, but this series is a much better acted and written drama than the soap opera Yellowstone.

I really hope there is a second season

Anna Torv is always great and is in her element here, in her native Australia. The younger and mostly unknown supporting cast accompanying the two leads are also quite good, including the Aboriginal actors and of course the spectacular Australian outback is a co-star in its own right.
